Ingredients

I spent over two decades in the cosmetics and personal care ingredients space (and as a CEO for nearly 10 years), so it's safe to say, when it comes to ingredients...I've seen it all. Dabble & Dollop subscribes to the “less is more” ingredient philosophy.

Caprylhydroxamic Acid (and) Glyceryl Caprylate

This blend is made from 100% vegetable sources in Pennsylvania, USA. This combination of these two ingredients helps to protect the formulation from developing bacteria, yeast or mold. (EWG=1)
Coco-Glucoside

A gentle surfactant made from 100% natural, certified RSPO (Responsibly Sourced Palm Oil) that has excellent dermatological properties and also foams well. Therefore, we use it as a co-surfactant in cleansing preparations. It is often used in baby washes because it is so mild. Our coco-glucoside is sustainably sourced and produced in Wisconsin, USA. Fragrance

Using our SmartScent™️ design, our selected scents must meet the EU (European Union’s) strictest standards to help consumers avoid common allergens. With that as our guiding light in design, we then select a combination of natural ingredients in addition to a carefully selected nature identical/synthetic materials to perfect the freshest, purest notes with enhanced stability and safety. This technology allows us to have a great smelling product without loading in unnecessary (and often) irritating essential oils and extracts. We think it’s a great combination of nature and science. An extremely gentle surfactant that is 100% naturally derived from sustainable coconut and corn and is 100% biodegradable. We selected this gentle cleanser because it is extremely mild (zero reported irritation!) and provides exceptional lather. Made in Tennessee, USA. (EWG=1)

As the mother of three and a 20+ year veteran of the cosmetics and personal care ingredients space, when it comes to children’s products, I’ve pretty much seen it all. And, of course, I wanted ultra-gentle, great scents with a mixing concept that mimics the way kids actually want to play in the tub. Are Dabble & Dollop products vegan, gluten-free and nut free?

Yes, our products are vegan, gluten-free and nut free.
Are your products all-natural/organic?

Dabble & Dollop uses 100% naturally derived ingredients as well as 100% essential oils and 100% non-toxic, allergen-free, nature identical aromatics. Our aromatics make up less than one half of one percent of our formula. 100% of our primary ingredients are naturally derived, sustainably-sourced, and made in the USA.
Are your products non-irritating?

Yes. It was critical that we could ensure our products would not be irritating to skin or eyes, therefore, we engaged a third party laboratory to conduct safety testing comprised of a six week HRIPT (Human Repeated Insult Patch Testing) as well as eye sting test for the tear-free claim.

If your child has a skin condition such as psoriasis or atopic dermatitis, we suggest you use extra caution when using Dabble & Dollop (or any cosmetic product, for that matter) as skin is compromised and more likely to become irritated.
Are your products safe for all ages?

Yes, absolutely! While we designed the products for children ages 2-12, they have been tested as safe for babies, older children, parents, and even grandparents! Dabble & Dollop products all underwent extensive testing to obtain a “tear-free” claim, meaning the products themselves do not cause any eye irritation. Keep in mind, a toddler may not enjoy getting product in their eyes, even if it doesn’t sting, so we do not recommend putting product in the eyes and this is stated on our bottles. We also had the product tested by dermatologists to ensure we could claim Dabble & Dollop is “hypoallergenic.” And strawberry scented hugs from grandma? What’s better than that?!
Are your products sustainable & eco-friendly?

Yes! And we worked really hard to make this so! We have made every effort to make our products as sustainable and eco-friendly as possible. First, our formulations are cold-processed, meaning absolutely no heat is required to produce them. We only use what is absolutely necessary – and our 3-in-1 products utilize 10 ingredients or fewer. Our founder spent twenty years working in the personal care ingredients industry. She used that knowledge to select ingredients that were sustainably sourced and produced here in the USA. Our bottles are also made using PCR plastic (post-consumer recycled).

Do you test your products on animals?

No, we do not test our products on animals, and we have verified that each of our ingredients has not been tested on animals, either. In fact, in January of 2020 we received our formal Leaping Bunny Certfication!
Do you use fragrance in your products?

The joyful aromas of Dabble & Dollop are a critical part of the sensory experience for children. For example, it was essential that our tangerine smelled like a tangerine was literally being peeled in front of you. Our strawberries, like you'd find in a summer field (and not a bag of candy). Our vanilla like freshly baked cake. Scent and memory are inextricably linked and we love that. But we also understand that synthetic fragrance in personal care products has come under an increasingly bright spotlight in recent years.

With 20+ years of experience in the cosmetics ingredients industry, we consciously selected essential oils and a blend of non-toxic, allergen-free nature identicals to drive our aromas. Why? With only essential oils we would have sacrificed the authenticity of our fresh aromas, and furthermore would have seen a degradation of color and product stability over time. Additionally, products overloaded with essential oils can contain more allergens, can be irritating, and aren’t always sustainably sourced. Therefore, we felt that selecting nature-identicals (at less than one half of one percent by volume) combined with natural sources was the better choice.

Our formulas meet current IFRA standards, are phthalate free, prop 65 compliant, vegan and non-GMO. Our aromatics do not contain any of the 186 banned or restricted compounds by RIFM (Research Institute of Fragrance Materials).

We conducted a 100 family study pre-launch and have many reviews by parents with children with sensitive skin. We have yet to see any abnormal skin responses, and in many cases, parents have said that Dabble & Dollop was the most gentle products they've ever used!

With all that said, we do understand that some children (and adults) have a hyper-sensitivity to fragrance. If that is the case, we are sorry, but Dabble & Dollop may not be the best choice for your family.
Do your products have expiration dates?

Our products have gone through rigorous stability testing and are designed to have a shelf life of three years from the date of manufacture. We suggest that once opened, you discard any unused product after a period of one year from its opening. This is something you should really do with all products in your bath.
Does Dabble & Dollop use parabens or phthalates?

No. We do not use parabens or phthalates in any of our products.
Is your packaging recyclable?

Yes – and furthermore, we’ve actually taken the extra step of sourcing bottles made from Post Consumer Recycled (PCR) plastic so we’re doing all we can to make sure we’re keeping our carbon footprint to a minimum!
